Scribe Notes for March 6, 2010

House Keeping Issues:

-Concern for missing items in buildings Q and T; please keep in mind that items & supplies are for use only in the classrooms. No pocketing!
-E-portfolio can be burned onto a disc or saved on a flash drive.
-Marvin brought up a suggestion for the E-portfolio: instead of typing out descriptions, comparisons, & etc. make use of Windows Movie Maker and record your voices in replacement of typed content.

What did we do today?

-Welcome guest Marley Rankin, daughter of Doug Ranking.
-Marvin, Patrick & Ken described their print out of Doug Rankin's paintings.
-Powerpoint presentation on Doug Ranking.
-Following the powerpoint, Ms. Marley briefly demonstrated the technique of using parts of the banana tree to create a painting. Thanks Ms. Marley!

-After the demonstration, the class tried out the newly learned technique from about 9:30 to 10:45. I saw what we created, good job guys! :)
-10:45 to 11:00 was cleanup and break time.
-Next was Chapter 7 presentation by Winnie, Roque & Victorette.
-No time left for next chapter presentation so that will be done on March 20, 2010.
-At the end of the class, Ms. Kathy described our assignment called "Field Experience". Description of Field Experience assignment:
-Look at local artists' artwork. Such paintings can be found at the old Len's 5 Tavern for Doug Rankin's work, Hyatt Regency Hotel Saipan for Connie Adam's artwork & Duty Free Galleria for Greg Elliot's artwork.
-You can also ask Efran (spelling?) Camacho to see his collection of Doug Rankin's artwork.
-Don't forget to take a picture of yourself with the art piece.
-You can also interview an artist.
-You can also visit the Thursday street market to take a look at the artwork there.
-Write a reflection on your field experience.
-This assignment will be due March 20, 2010
